Born and raised on the mean streets of Odessa and Siberia, Soviet Union DJ CodeSlicer, aka Mike Gabinsky, started his musical journey when he was 6, when he discovered a reggae record collection belonging to his dad. It was at this moment that Mike Gabinsky knew he wanted to be part of 'the scene'.

 

He first became interested in the electronic music scene in 1989. In 1991, aged 14, his mom and dad bought him his first set of decks. At the age of 17, he was already being touted as Odessa's answer to Andy C. He did various warm up sets before the doors opened in clubs hosting major names such as DJ Keoki, Danny Howells, Desyn Masiello.

 

In 1996, he achieved his big break when codeslicer realised he was big in the game. It was after this point when he started getting gigs at big events such as inLoop Events and NYC events.

 

After receiving several offers, DJ CodeSlicer joined inloop events, who helped distribute his first internet release, 'Welcome to Heaven' in 1997. Though the single didn't sell as many as he probably would have liked, DJ CodeSlicer is a fighter and since 2013 has been locked in the studio perfecting his craft.

 

Suffice to say, the drum and bass scene should be expecting big things from DJ CodeSlicer in 2014.
